Can I get by with low rings (probably Burris Z Rings) on Weaver bases on my new Nikon Buckmasters 4-14X scope to be mounted on my even newer Stevens 200? Or should I play it safe and get the medium rings? I know it is supposed to me mounted as close to the barrel as possible, and the Buckmasters objective isn't that big, and I hate having to return stuff. Just not sure that the low rings would give enough height to clear the barrel. Appreciate any input.

Check them out on the chart.

You can use a FFII w/ a 40mm objective as an example.

I'm guessing a low mount would work with a 40mm objective, but check to be sure.

Thanks for the reply. I think you are right, since I couldn't wait, and went and bought some medium rings last night. There is quite a bit of clearance between the bell and the barrel, so I probably should have bought the low rings instead. I maybe should have waited to see if anyone responded, but I really wanted to get out and shoot the new rifle today. Thanks again. I may pick up some low rings and try them later, saving the medium rings for the next rifle/scope as I am sure they would work fine on a scope with a 42 or 44 mm objective.
