Well I got a chuckle out of the way that was worded - why yes a 22 rimfire will put nasty holes in the scope. However I'm sure that the answer you are looking for lies more along the lines of what is the difference will it function OK. It will function OK but will be more uesable at lower powers which tend to have a broader depth of field as far as parallax is concerned. Scopes for centerfire rifles often have the parallax set to 100 yds or 150 yds where scopes for rimfire rifles would have parallax set for 50 yds possible less. What that means is that things at 10 to 25 yds may appear out of focus or rather a soft image. Ideally scopes that are used for shooting targets would have adjustable parallax. I really dont know how much money you are willing to invest in an optic or if trading in your scope would be of interest to you however SWFA will take scopes in trade toward other purchases. http://www.samplelist.com/TradeInForm.aspx
You will not harm your scope by using it for a 22 but you may find that it is better suited to a high power rifle. There are some 22 scopes that are fairly reasonable and this is the one I use
If you wanted a scope with really nice glass and adjustable parallax and target knobs which could be really fun you might consider trading toward this scope which has very nice glass and would be a lot of fun on a 22 or other rifle.
