I am fairly new to the whole rifle / scope.....  I have a Tikka T3 Light and a Conquest 6-5X20 scope.

I read post the other day about a guy finding scopes for his rifle and some simply did not work.  He had a Sako.....on & on.  Made me think, " I wonder if my scope is properly placed".

My warne scope rings sit :

the back ring is as far forward as it can be without interfering with the ejection/extraction  port

the front ring is is centered just past the ejection port

there is plenty of room between the scope and barrel on the front

the eye piece end of the scope comes almost as far back as the deepest dip in handle pistol grip area

It just seems I need to move my head forward most of the time to get a good sight picture.

Any ideas, rules of thumb or feedback would be appreciated on scope placement,

If you can't throw up the gun with eyes closed and when opened be looking at a full sight picture.....the scope needs to be moved to where you can. It sounds from your post that the scope needs to to come back a little towards you until the eye relief is perfect for your head position and cheek weld.

I have a few Tikka T3s and love them - can't get a better knock-around gun for the money (nor can you get a more accurate gun for the money.)

(the "how-to" should answer your question - just wanted to say you have good gear.  I have the same setup: T3 Lite stainless in 300WM, Warne rings, and Zeiss 4.5-14x44 and love it.  that rig has killed a few hogs over the past year.)

RC,

Yeah- agreed!  I am thinking about buying the same rig in the 300WSM.  I was thinking 300WSM over 300WM for less recoil.  How does that Lite feel in the 300 win?  It does not bother me with a 7+ lb gun, but the Lite, well I wonder.

Let me know what you think.
