Breaking in a new barrel?

Some i've read like the Tubbs method but i've never used it.
My method is~
Fire one round,clean barrel,do this 5 times.
Fire five rounds,clean barrel,do this 5 times.
that's it.
I'm sure every has there own method or lack of.
I'm classic shag nasty type.

I used it on my Kimber Montana and liked it so much I plan to use it again when my new Remmy CDL SF returns home from the smith.

I've read very good reports about it. If it was available in SA I would use it.

Yup. Here's mine:
1: Shoot until bore is dirty and fouled nasty.
2: Clean bore, but not to bare metal.
3: Repeat forever.
Works for me.

I tried it on a Rem 700 that had a bore that coppper fouled rather badly after 10 rounds or so , and the accuracy fell off drastically.. I gave the 2 step loaded Tubb ammo and whil and followed the instructions word for word ...and it seems to have worked...accuracy didn't change , and it's a bit easier to clean and I can squeeze about a full box now before the fouling is really evident

I ran the Tubbs through an a 300 that was a bitch to clean (but accurate.)  It is a little easier to clean now, but I saw no change in accuracy.

In the end, you are taking material out of your barrel, this product shortens barrel life.  But, most people never kill a barrel.

The Tubbs product is good to go, it ain't a miracle-worker, but it might tighten up groups and it might make the barrel easier to clean.

Rember, it is easier to destroy a barrel by cleaning than it is by shooting!

Good point RC. Hence my break in procedure. Shoot 'till it's broke in.
