Your welcome.
I've had very few scopes that the reticle was "level", even when a bubble level laid across the elevation turret said it was.

If you all dont have a lazer you can use a nylon string with a fishing weight tied to it. That is your plum line... Then hang a 4 foot level on the wall just behind it.(level of course) Make it square with your scope.
I liked that anti cant device in the vid but man those boogers are expensive!!!! Whats another way to make sure your rifle is level besides and anti cant device on the pic rail?????????

I have a little magnetic level about an inch long that I sit on top of the rail and one that fits in most bolt guns. Pull the bolt back and it sits on the grooves the bolt travels on.

Levelling the scope is the easy part. As said previously a piece of string with a weight on it will work just fine. The hard part is ensuring the gun is level when levelling the scope. He might want to rethink that torpedo level.

rail levels aren't always true.
I use the Wheeler Professional Leveling kit to level the rifle itself, then use a plumb line to level the reticle. the laser level used in the video would also work nicely.

Where else could you level you rifle besides the pic rail? I don't see another square surface on my rigs that make since!

On a flat bottom receiver you can use the bottom of the receiver, but that wasn't what I was referring to. I use the pic rail, but not an anti-cant rail-mounted bubble like that used in the video. I use the precision level from the Wheeler Professional kit on the rail, then mount the barrel level. Mount the scope and level the crosshairs with a plumb line. If you have a small precision square and a flat bottom scope, you can just line up one edge of the square on the pic rail and tilt the other edge up to the flat bottom, and the bottom of the scope will be level with the rail. However, the reticle might still not be level with the bottom of the scope, though. |

I use a Tipton gun vise and the Wheeler level across the bolt raceway rails to level the rifle. Then use the other Wheeler level across the top turret of the scope and/or a vertical plum line to level the scope. Depending on the bottom metal of your action and your stock, you can sometimes get the torpedo level across the bottom floor plate of the action.

On my savage I was able to take the bolt out and had a nice square surface on the rear of the action where I could place a torpedo level. Between that and a plum line I think she is as good as gold. I thought about using the bottom of the action reciever however it had some curvature to it.
