Need some help!  I need some thoughts on these scopes? It's  going to be mounted on a Remington R-15 in .223 with a 22" barrel.
 
5320 Kahles 3-9x42 American Hunter  51902, Matte finish, one inch tube, plex reticle, fast focus eye piece, ring marks, multiple scratches and dings on tube. $449.95

Intended use ??? plinking ... Varmints... target... Out to what yardage??

Mostly hunting Coyotes and Ground hogs. Being that I live in the great wide open spaces of Eastern Washington shots are usually 200+ yards so you can see most things out there long before they are within range.  But every once in awhile one will sneak in and surprise you...  with a 223 I'd say anything from 100 to 300 is a in for a clean kill.

If you get the Leupold, I'd suggest you get it with the varmint hunter's reticule. It's designed for the hunting you will be doing. Make sure you get good mounts. Nothing is worse than spending $2000 on a good rifle and scope, not getting good accuracy, and having an expensive gunsmith assess the problem only to find that the mounts were junk.

there are some good reasons to go with one with an illuminated reticle if you are after  coyotes.
