hey there everybody...i was just wondering if anyone had any idea how the remington vietnam era m40 shoots....

i heard that the ones issued in vietnam were good out to about 800 yards...

the one they sell now have a 24 inch heavy barrel and the 700 action... i was wondering if this would be a good gun for ling range shooting out to 1000 yards, with the .308 and match ammo..

what does everyone think....and if u have one or have shoot one how do u like it

thanks

I like Remington's but don't know a whole lot about the M40.

Isn't that the same as the Remington 700P? I have that in .308 minus the Leupold scope. Mine is the SS16X instead. It is accurate but I haven't gotten it to shoot as accurate as the reports say I should even with breaking it in religiously. It doesn't seem to me measurably more accurate than my SKS with a Bushnell 16X which has been dragged through the mud. It may require an aftermarket barrel to do what the sniper websites say it should. I've been a little disappointed.
