There has been 2 come in the shop and from what the owners say they are shooters right out of the box. the trigger needs some work but what new rifles don't. I bet you would be happy with it.

I own a .204 and have shot several others in various chamberings. They do shoot right out of the box. In fact the first first 5-shot group with my .204 at 100 yards had 4 shots touching and the other just a little out.

A hacksaw will solve that. Though if enough people contact Remington no doubt a factory version could probably be arranged.

As John said get out the Hacksaw I've done it five times different breaks but same remedy and a quick clean-up of the crown with a chamfering tool  or crowning tool or the like and test it out.

you can get a rem 700 vtr non-ported version at cabelas. i purchased a .308, 24 inch barrel non-ported model last weekend at their hamburg pa. store on sale for $650. they had several other calibers with the same barrel also. this version may be a cabelas exclusive. I haven't shot it yet. looks awesome with a bipod and scope.
