I have Remington 700 BDL in 30'06.  I had a Leopold Vari-X II with a 1" tube on it, and thus a 1" mount.  It was a see-through mount.

I recently purchased a Bushnell 6500 Elite with a 30mm tube, and now I need to get a good mount that will fit.  I prefer to get a see-through mount, which I know many folks do not like, but I want to be able to use it for close in work.

I've checked the forum, but really couldn't get a good idea for a mount.  I haven't bought a mount in probably 20 years, so I am very unfamiliar with what is out there.  I'm on a pretty tight budget, but I want something that will do well, yet be tough enough for some hard work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you are going to find a great see-thru mount. I wouldn't even consider one. You can kill anything as close as you want with your scope. A scope sitting that high will give you virtually no cheek weld on the stock. Best bang for your buck would be a set of Talley lightweight rings. The base and ring are one piece so you will not have to buy seperate rings and bases. #1 reccomendation is to ditch the see-thru ring idea.

Thank you for your input.  I'll seriously consider dropping the see-through option.

I was the same for awhile. I liked the see-thru option but I found that I really didn't use it enough to go out of my way to get em. And I don't know that you will find any made for 30mm. I could take a set of 30mm rings and make some see thru but I don't know if that would really be doing you any favors. Cheek weld is not something that should be over looked. But, at the same time there are adjustable stock options for just that. You mentioned budget and it wouldn't be without cost. Good luck with it. let us know what you do.
