I have a stock remington 700 BDL 30.06 with a swift 50 mm scope.  I use currently use the gun for deer hunting.  I am wanting to add a drop out magazine.  How hard is it to add this and do I need to go to a gunsmith to have it added.  I am in the process of sending it off to have it dipped.  Do I need to add the magazine prior to being dipped.  I just dont like the drop down plate.  How do I go about getting the scope dipped.

Try the Kwik Klip conversion package>

Alot of retailers sell them. I have only seen one in the field ( my cousin revamped a 700ADL ) and he seems to like it. He said he need to fiddle with it at first ( I believe he had to sand the magazine well on his aftermarket stock a little) , but now it works fine.

Why not buy a gun with that already installed?

well i have been doing some reading.  I thought about buying a new rifle but this was my first rifle.  I would like to keep the action but would like to do some custom work to it.  Thought about putting a new stock on it and also thought about putting a thicker barrel.  How hard is this to do and is there anything that I can use to aid in the process.

.................................I would keep that rifle in its original condition and go buy another rifle with a DM! Look at the cost difference and see what you come up with! If you`re spending say $300-$400 for the modifications, your better off spending another $200-$400 for a new rifle with a DM!

Are you wanting to do the work yourself?  Do you have experience?  I only ask because you say this was/is your first rifle.  I personaly wouldn't want to f-up my first rifle...... I'd buy a project one........ one that might have a damaged barrel or stock and go from there.  If I was dead set to upgrade this one, I'd probably send it to Hill Country or someplace like that.
