Hi All,
I Have a Remington 700 in .204 Ruger (VSSF) with a Nikon Monarch scope in 6-24 by 50mm and Leupold STD bases and twist on rings. The gun shoots about 4 inches low at 100 yds with the scope wound all the way up. It appears that the radius on the front mount does not match that of the receiver and the scope is therefore pointing up in the air. A second set of mounts does the same thing. Anyone have any clues? Could Remington have changed the radius on the receiver or machined it incorrectly?

Are the mounts on the correct way...meaning sometimes there is a designated front and rear mount?. The rear mount will be a tad higher than the front giving you more elevation adjustment.  This is just a guess not knowing exactly how your scope mounts are configured.

Welcome to the OT!  There's a lot of knowledgeable people on this board that may have a better suggestion

The mounts can only go one way as the rear mount is screwed to a flat surface and the forward mount screws onto a round section of the receiver. The radius machined into the front mount and the radius of the receiver are different, thus pushing the front mount up a little higher (the receiver has a bigger radius than the mount). My friend and I bought identical guns at the same time. He has no problems with his.
