I was hoping to inherit this rifle, but my Father in law needs the money. It is a rare sporting version  of the old Mauser 98 by an Austrian Company Voere but chambered in the more modern 7mm Rem Mag for big game. http://www.voere.com/
Since it is difficult to estimate the value of a 40 year old custom gun, I am trying to price out the pieces. The gun has Weaver mounts and an old Redfield 2x7 scope.
I am trying to figure out how much value an old scope like this would add to the rifle.
I am guessing that someone who collects rare old guns, probably would want a matching scope.

Dont know the value of the gun ....but the scope is worth appr.$100.00 you can find them on E-BAY. a couple other guys here have guns like that ...wait till they look at your post for more info.     did a check on.. gun broker.com there is a couple of these guns going for $500.00/$600.00 ?  you should maybe come up with a reasonable offer and buy it you're self if you want it. it might not be easy to sell, don't think there is a large following, not too say it is not a good gun just not popular here in the US. except for being a Mauser action?

I'd take it off and sell it some place like e-bay.  The gun will move faster without the "distraction" of the scope.

The Austrian Voere is not equivalent to the German Voere Titan II.  However, it is a very good rifle.  Depending on actual condition, $500-$800 would be in line for that rifle.  The German models go for double and more.

Your Voere pictured looks EXACTLY like mine, but mine is 30-06. It is a one-hole gun at 100 yds. Super light, but the recoil doesn't beat you up too bad. It feels like it was made for me, and feels great shouldering and offhand shooting. Yours is a  super nice setup, hope you are able to buy it and keep it in the family. I had a Bushnell banner BDC 3-9 compact that held zero on my Voere, but as I enjoy trying different scopes, it now wears a Tasco Euro Class 6x. Have not zero'd it yet...

Forgot to add, if someone wanted to replace the Redfield with an older Nickel, Zeiss, Hy Score, or Tradewinds, any of those would be a great "German-made" period scope for this rifle. I agree with the others, you would get more money if you sold the scope and mounts separately from the rifle.

Thanks guys. I have the green light from my wife to "over pay" for this rifle to keep it in the family and get dad some cash. I saw the same rifle set up on Guns international for $850. I will use that as a top end.
