I was wondering what you all think about red dot sights from Aimpoint and EOTech. I have a Colt 6721 16" A3 H-Bar Carbine and have been looking at the Aimpoint CompM4 series and the EOTech 557 (possibly with the flip to side mount 3X magnifier)specifically. I would like to know how each holds up under slight abuse, is the 557"s .223 bal reticle usable, does the 557's smaller 1 MOA dot help or hurt, etc. Thanks for any help. |

They both are tough good optics. I like the Aimpoints better but it depends what you are looking for. The smaller the dot the more precise your aim can be at longer ranges. The larger dots are better for fast target acquisition again depends on what you are looking to do and what your personal preferences are.

Any experience with the mangnifiers from either manufacturer? Any reasons why you prefer the Aimpoints?

Welcome to The OT.
Certain Eotech sights and the Aimpoint Comp's have been combat proven and are used daily in military and LE circles.
I'm fairly confident that either optic would hold up well for you, as they both have for me.
I still prefer the Aimpoint for longer battery life and the new T-1 I have kicks major ASS!!
This also is a GREAT deal on a Aimpoint.
