I just purchased a Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull.  Having a hard time trying to find a red dot that will mount on it.  It has a 8 3/8" barrell.  I was told by a local gun shop that the weaver type of mounts will not work on this revolver.  Any help and knowledge would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The problem will finding a dot to take the 454? Do you have the Taurus scope mount that came with the gun (supposedly)? I use one on 10" Tauras raging hornet with weaver mounts, and a Leo 4x. works great. (muzzle vel. 2700 fps, making it faster than the S&W 460's). Some dots may not work on weaver bases. Usually one of their tightening screws, however, will move back and forth to allow fit such as a Tasco Pro-Point. Your 454 with a Leo 2x would be the best way, to go. I mangeled a bushnell dot on my Ruger redhawk casuall in a couple of hundred rounds and after 2000 rds. of 300 gr full power loads the Leo even gave up. (although Leo replaced it free). Have fun-- 454 great way to get over the flinchies.
