Anyone have any suggestions for a decent pair of compacts for hunting.  Not really interested in spending over $100, just need a decent pair for game ID.

Thanks

For under hundred bucks there are a few reverse porros that are OK.  THey do not approach the performance of full size glass but they are OK.

There are a fe models from Pentax that are OK.  I use Sightron S2 compacts 8x25 and they are serviceable enough.  Current models are also waterproof.

For 85 bucks or less, it's tough to go wrong with the little reverse porro 8x26 Bushnell Legends.  I've used them quite a bit to hunt rabbits and squirrels.  Fully multi coated, bak4, rain guard, pop up eye cups, armoured, and water proofed and they weigh next to nothing.  Good sight picture, do well in relatively low light, and being porros, they provide as good or better sharpness than any roof that costs three times as much.

I use the 8x26 Legends more often than I do the 8x42's...
