Hi everyone and thanks in advance for the help, this is an awesome forum that has helped me many times in the past. I've just purchased one of those Savage F class target rifles in 6.5x284 and I'm in need of a scope. I know many people are using Nightforce and I'm VERY happy with the one on my .50 BMG ( a State Arms Rebel, I'll post pics soon). However, the Leupold LRT looks good though I've never looked thru one. Also I've heard good things about the Burris Black Diamond. I'd like to stay under 1300 bucks but I want quality, learned long ago you DO get what you pay for. Ok, lets see what everyone says......

Looks like a nice scope though I've never looked thru one. Don't think it'll be enough magnification for 1000 yds though..........

Well, like I said, it gives you more flexiblity.  F-class shoots at 600 800 1000 yards I think, it's like the Palma ranges.  The black diamond is a great scope from all acounts i've read and heard. I have not looked through one.  But the Illuminated recticle give you more flexibility in low light conditions. If the rifle is strickly for range purposes than you go with a higher magnafication but 18 is pretty high up there on hot days with factoring for a mirage. I would diffenently go with a variable and the fineplex recticle might be hard to see in low light!  But the Black diamond keeps more money in your pocket!!!  Always a good thing!!!

I use the Leupold LRT 8,5-25x50 with side parralax focus and find it well suited to my needs. Obviously if you are looking at price versus what you get, then there are many other options out there. Enough to give you analysis paralysis.

Check this out sir. It's a great scope for the ranges that you are looking to shoot at.

I am useing a T-36 Weaver with satisfactory results on my 40X 308 Winchester. Also use a T-24 on my Bushmaster varminter for target work, switching to the 4-16 varieable for critters.
