Looking for recommendations in a $300 +/- scope for a .308 Remington 700 for western mulie, whitetail and some elk hunting. I'd like a variable somewhere along the lines of 3-9x or 3.5-10x. Must be silver finished.
Also recommendations for rings.
Thanks. |

burris FF2 3-9x40 in silver with ballistic blex, and for rings/bases, leupold standard and i would use medium rings, although you can get by with lows.

Thanks, Cory. Overall, how does the Burris compare with the Nikon Monarch of the same power?

ive never done a side to side comparison of the two, but the monarch is going to be a hair clearer, but i dont think enough to justify the $$ difference. and with the monarch you dont get the ballistic plex reticle. and i would actually advise you to get the matte one, with the free spotter for even less, but you said you want silver. and silver scopes will sometimes spook deer, becuase of reflection.

Hey redneckbmxer, guess which Silver scope you missed? The 4200 Elite in silver or matte 2.5-10x40. The 2.5 power setting would be good for timber hunting for elk, it weighs 2.5oz less than the 3.3-10x44 Nikon and optically they are both excellent, of course my vote goes for the Elite when you consider ALL the benefits of the Elite ( Rainguard, FireFly reticle, free $100 gear bag, and the icing on the cake- One Year No Questions Asked Return/Refund policy).

Roy, that Bushnell 2.5 - 10 x40 is a very good choice. I like mine for close up hunting in the dark, that low 2.5 power is nicer than a 3 or 4 power for the low end. Tough one to beat for the money! That being said, have any of you checked out the new Burris Fullfield II's? I haven't had the chance to look through one yet? |
