I have several trail cams. Some with infrared, some without.
I´m not crazy about the ones with infrared cause they are black and white only.
Years ago i thought the deer got scared of the flash, but they dont. One of my cameras is placed by a feeding place, and they come back night after night flash or not.
The infrared i have takes great pic's in the day time, but the ones taken at night is more blury.

The cams are going to be used for a theft problem which is why the infrared is desired.   So of all of the cams you have which do you prefer?

Same type of thing I could use a game camera for.  We have had a couple of outbreaks of car egging in the neighborhood.  My old reliable would get stolen due to the flashes being visible.

I have two of the Bushnell with the metal security boxes and they have worked pretty good.

The best one i have is made by Moultry. My buddy has a Reconyx which is a lot better than mine, but also a LOT more expensive.
Acturley i'm not sure that a trail cam would be the best solution for your purpose. The infrared cams still make a light ( not a flash) when they are taking pictures and that would reveal your cam.
There are a lot of better solutions on the market when you are talking about spycams.
I have some at my bussines that are recording video at night without any light at all. They only record when something is moving. A lot have happened since i bought them app. 10 years ago.
Today they are wireless, not very big, dont need a recorder caused the memorycards, and best of all they are inexpensive.
Now i don't know where you are going to use it or if there is acces to electricity but i would be very surpriced if you can't get cameras that works on batteries that would fit your purpose.

Correction: Spycam may not be the right word for that type of camera. I guess it's called survailance cam.

Chris: Does the cam you suggest make a light when it's taking pictures at night?

No it does not flash it uses infrared and it does light up red but it is very faint and you have to be looking straight at it and paying attention to notice it. I put one up at my house maybe 10 feet from my front door and no one noticed it coming or going.

Seems like it would be a good bid for Scooter then.
You are not in doubt that mine takes pictures when it lights up at night, maybe it´s cause they are of older dates.
