Good day. I don't know much about optics/scopes. I have always been able to shoot at game 100 or less yards away. I'm going hunting where a 200+ yard shot is not out of the ordinary. I wanted to know if anyone would know what a good scope would be for me for around $200 that will give me the oportunity to see the chest area of a deer at say 200+ yards. I have a Remington .30-06, semi-auto. With the scope I currently have, a 16" diameter paper target is nothing more than a little dot on the horizon. Thank you for your time.

Welcome sir! Your desires are very doable. I'd second the above choices and add Sightron SII 3-9 X 42 for about $250.

Yep.  For another $50 or so you'd jump up into another class of scopes.  Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with the ones I've suggested.

Welcome to the OT CW.  Given you indicate your eyes aren't that great you may want to step up a little more than 9x on the top end.  This Vortex would give you a little more power but you do loose some on the low end.
Vortex 4-12x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope Dead-Hold BDC Vortex 4-12x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope
Stock # - DBK04BDC
  • Matte
  • Dead-Hold BDC
  • 1"
$199.95
Add Vortex 4-12x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope to Cart

Optional Accessories:
It also has a BDC reticle which could help make shoots faster in the field but you'd have to practice with it to find out what ranges they are true at.

Good luck!

I would weigh in for a fixed 4x or 6x (If you hunt in predominantly open country). 4x is plenty for a 250 yard shot on a deer for me. Others probably feel differently about this and you didn't mention what power your current scope is. My argument is you should be able to get a higher quality fixed power scope at your price point($200) than variable power. If it is a deer only rifle, you don't need as much versatility from your scope as you might if you wanted to shoot jacks too.

Welcome

Some good scopes suggested. To stay within your price range, the Nikon team primos, or the Vortex Diamondback would be the best bang for the buck. I have the 3-9 and 4-12 Diamondbacks and suggest the 4-12 as the Vortex has a wider field of view than most scopes. Looking through mine at 3x and the other at 4x you're not losing much picture.

I'd suggest you look close at a Bushnell 3200 Elite series
