New to optics on rifles.

Wondering which of the following scopes would hold up best to intense 50 bmg recoil: Super sniper, Burris signature series, Leupold Rifleman, Zeiss Conquest ,and IOR tactical. Any speculations on ultimate winners 1st 2nd 3rd place as recoil survivors in a 10,000 rd .50 bmg duration test.

any of them will hold up, i cant tell you how long, but the SS is made to handle the recoil of a 50 bmg, it would be my first choice, then the conquest, then the IOR.

10,000 rounds of BMG??

Geez.... thats at least 3 barrels and about $27,000 in reloading components, about $37,000 if you are shooting "bore-riders".

Actually all the "50's" that I have shot had moderate recoil (30-06 in a sporter weight) due to the weight of the rifles and the massive muzzel brakes that they are usually outfitted with. They are built to be shot in 1000 yd matches...50+ rounds in a single day.

Now compare that to a .416 WBY which will have you seeing stars after the second shot....LOL

We use several different 50's a lot for R&D and I agree that modern brakes make them real pussy cats to shoot.  It must be the shock wave or concussion that does something to the scopes because it does the same thing to my head after shooting a few hundred rounds in one setting.  The 50's have broke various parts of many scopes.  If they survive the 50's they go to a 7lb .338 Lapua with out a brake and finally a ported .460 Weatherby.  The Lapua is violent and has sent a member of our R&D team to the hospital two times so far with a grade 3 concussion and blood coming out of one ear.
