This will be primarily a hunting optic.
I'm tossed up between the $400 Gold Ring 15-30x50 (just cause I like Leupold) vs the $650 Razor HD 11-33x50. Saw Ila's comments about the Razor being a great spotter - is that still true? The HD seems more appealing than the non-HD. Any other spotting scopes I should look at in those lines? I wandered down the Leica road in December 2014 with a rifle scope and it dropped a speck of black on the inside of the reticle on me in September 2017 - sent it back, got a letter saying everything is fine, enjoy your scope with the speck - I've tried to sell it and nothing - seems that folks don't want to buy a used alpha scope with a speck inside the reticle. Go figure. ![]() So no funky, unrecognizable brands that don't have iron-clad B-S-less warranties please. |

HD is just a marketing term, but the Razor spotter walks all over the 15-30x50 Leupold.

You are welcome. As far as the Leica goes, they really beefed up their service department last year. You may want to call them up. If they give you a hard time, I'll see what I can do. ILya

Thanks, Ilya - I'll give Leica a call.
I'm very happy with the Razor - haven't been able to put her thru any real tests - have figured out that midday isn't the time to use a spotting scope in FL - the heat waves really effected things.
