Has anyone compared the Vortex Razor 1.5-8X32 to the Leica ER5 1.5-8X32?  I'm looking for a new scope for my Kimber Montana 7mm-08. Most of my shots are short and fast. I use this as a walking rifle and have killed a few jumped deer. There's also the possibility of shots up to 400 yards but I've only shot one deer that far in 20 years.

My Montana currently wears a Kahles 2-7X36. I doubt I'll find a huge improvement in glass but I have a fondness for tweener scopes and just want to try something a bit different since I have a $1000 burning a hole in my pocket.LOL

Any other suggestions for a high quality light weight other than a Leupold or a Z3?

It's not light weight but I have even considered trying a Meopta Meostar 1.7-10X42. I have not had a chance to see one but I like the idea of a 1.7 low end for moving deer and 10X for the longer shots. I also like the idea of an illuminated reticle since I've never owned one. Along that line of thinking I've even considered trying a 2-7 VXR.

I hope this post isn't too scattered and rambling. I'm just sharing some thoughts I've had lately about new glass but I am mostly interested in the Vortex and Leica.

The Razor glass may not impress you if you are using the Kahles 2-7X32 . Unless you prefer the Razor reticle choice. The 2-7 Kahles CL at 8 years old is still the best twenner scope ever produced in my opinion. At least best that I have ever handled.

Now the rules have changed again.

I've only seen the 2-10 Razor HD LH. I may like it better than my Kahles, hard to tell in a few minuets in a store. I mostly like that the view goes all the way to the edge of the ocular, no tunneling at all, which can't be said for the 2-7 Kahles CL, though the CL's tunneling isn't extreme.

I have not seen the 1.5-8 version of the Razor, nor have I seen the Leica.
