I am shooting small and big bore air rifles . So the range will be under 200 yards for sure . Looking for a good basic unite . For targets and small objects like squirrels , and crows . On a tight budget but want something that will be accurate . Thanks Marvin

Not knowing your budget goals I will just throw you a few ideas. All my experience with range finders is hunting related and typically range 400yds or more. I've tried the bow hunting models for short range and was dissappointed. The best prices I've seen are for the 400/450yd models. It's better to have more than less right. Anyway, Brunton has a 440yd. for around 115.00 depending on where you buy. Bushnell has the model 500 for around 140.00. I have no experience with the Brunton, but the Bushnell is a great unit for the money. Keep a watch on the Sample list and you may find a used or refurbished for a great deal. And rest assured if it made the list it is good to go. Good luck!

Excuse me if I'm just ignorant about this, but why would you need one for under 200 yds?

First, at least for me, I can fairly accurately range out to 200yds with my naked eye...def out to 100yds.

Second, what airgun are you going to be using that's even accurate out to anything past 50 yds???

Third, I've taken plenty (if not all) of my squirrels and birds (with airguns) between 10 and 50 yds...the stalk is the funnest part...get a ghillie suit (not that you'd really need one) and see how close u can get...trust me you'd love it

I use a little Cabelas finder when bowhunting. Not sure, but might be made by Bushnell, and not expensive either. That Brunton sounds like a buy too.

Since the OP hasn't answered....  Airguns, and especially the big bores, have a very looping trajectory.  Much more so than a firearm.  At the near or far end of the trajectory, a difference of a few yards will greatly impact the pellets point of impact.

There are lots of airguns that are MOA accurate to 100 yards.  Daystate, Steyr are a few examples.

Perhaps the OP is not wanting to hunt small game.  Big bore airguns can take game up to the size of whitetail deer (not that it's legal to do so in all areas).

Hopefully the above will help to enlighten.....

I had a Nikon 440. It was fine for under 400 yards. Before selling it off, I compared it to my Swaro for the distances it was rated and it was always within a yard on every measure.
