with the buyout of remington, I've been wondering if the over quality and such were going up or down especially with the pros an cons about the new trigger so- and also if the new models of the conquest had improved over the one previoulsy broken, ( new reticles) so-- a new stainless 308 with a 4.5x14x50 conquest with the 5R barrel

I'd be interested in hearing your views of both rifle and scope, Dale.

How do you like the Rapid-Z?

special order from  Get Some-- really like the new z reticles, mostly the reason for getting the scope. over all initial impression of the rem-- guns fit and finish is more like custom shop or safari grade stuff.

it would appear that the rumours of the R5 barrels being accurate out of the box show up here, 8-shots observation of a large piece of putty attached (palm swell) to the grip is an understatement.
but the trigger-- at least on this one is outstanding, reminds me of the older 700's after being shot alot. no adjustment need, and sooooo clean.

Interesting since I just put a R5 Milspec .308 just like yours on lay away as Scheels.  I really wasnt looking for anything to buy when I stumbled across it but it was so nicely done that I couldnt pass it up. I like the fine green fibers in the HS Precision stock, and the barrel reminds me more of a custom gun like something I would find at GAP. It being in my favorite cartridge to reload helped too.   Big Green has been putting out some much nicer stuff here lately. I saw another model at another store with a tan HS Precision stock and ha heavy blue fluted barrel that was a nice rig also but not as nice as this one. I really should stay out of gun stores but it does keep me out of the titty bars.Sold

Now if it just had Badger bottom metal detachable magazines and may be a vortex flash suppressor and an OD green paint job on the metal.  And of course Badger rings and base and  Oh my God Im going to be short another tactical scope. Head%20Banger
Well I can see this taking a year and a half to completion.

Awesome Dale,
you've perked my interest, a large piece of puddy? Did you make your own palm swell on the stock? If so, how? and do you like the result?  Wes, I feel your pain, but you have to go into the gun store to get powder right?  If my eyes wander over the rifle racks is it my fault?  Roll%20on%20Floor%20Laughing

the stock is H-S precision, the palm swell is stock also, It allows a full grip area without the usual vertical seen in tactical stocks and places the finger correctly indexed on the trigger--at least for me.

Yes I do have to go once or twice a week for powder or primers, or bullets that time I was after plastic boxes to put  shells in - now I still need plastic boxesWhistling guess I have to go back Embarrased

That's a good price mine will cost around $1100. but being able to do it on payments makes a difference and means I can actually get it.
