Thanks to my first posted question I have decided to upgrade to a IOR scope for my .300 win mag.  I have a quick question though, do the IOR hunting scopes have an adjustment for parallax?  I know that the tactical models have side focus, do the hunting models have some other adjustment?  I don't know if it's even needed for a hunting rifle, but I wouldn't mind having it.  Thanks.

Depends on which power you decide to go with.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

i would stay away from it if i were you.

parallax adjustment is great for 300+ yards, but how much hunting will be done over that?

it will get in the way, more often than not while hunting.

my 2 cents.

Drake,

You really don't need parallax adjustment on most scopes until you get beyond 12-14X or so on the upper end.  Parallax adjustment is great on a long range rifle -- tactical, varmint, target type shooting -- but on a hunting rifle, I see it as a hindrance.  Suppose a game animal steps out at 50 yards, you shoulder your rifle and forgot the parallax adjustment was set on infinity the last time you shot the rifle.  Your sight picture might be too distorted to get off a good shot.  Often you're faced with brief shot opportunities when deer & elk hunting, which may not give you the luxury of time required to fiddle with side focus or A/O.

keep it simple stupid as they say side focus and parallux adjustments are just 2 more things to screw with or break or go wrong when the big one walks out in front of you.
