I am new to this forum and would like to find out about a 4x16x44 TruGlo scope. Thinking about putting on a Remington 700 30-06. Will it hole up ? What do you think.

Welcome to the OT, John.  I don't have any knowledge of that scope, but I'm sure someone will chime in to help out.  What part of SE Texas are you from?  I'm originally from Jasper, but live in Ft. Worth now.  Lots of family down that way, still.  Again, welcome.

Truglow is cheap chicom junk.  Give us your budget and uses and we can make a couple recommendations of good scopes.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

What kind of shooting you going to be doing with it?

I would check out Sightron SI, Vortex Diamondback, Leupold VX-1, Nikon Buckmaster.  I personally like my vortex scopes, and even in the price range you mentioned, their warranty is second to none.  You can get a 3-9x40 for 189.95, and the BDC reticle for 199.95:

Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope V-Plex Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope

Add Vortex 3-9x40 Diamondback Rifle Scope to Cart

Bushnell LEgend HD as well.

Personally I would stick with a 3-9xish mag range.  In that price range you will get the best bang for your buck in the 3-9x versions.

Agreed.  Good call.  I bet the difference in glass in that Viper vs. any of the other scopes mentioned (including the ones I mentioned) would give you better resolution and image quality at 7x (viper) than all the others at 9x.  I don't know for sure because I haven't tested them side-by-side, but I have tested a diamondback vs. a viper HS, and the glass was remarkably better in the viper.

Very few scopes are made in the US.  Most are made in other countries.  Vortex are made in other countries, the better of their lines are made in Japan, others in the Philippians.

The Chinese do make some good optics these days, but Truglo is not one of them.

Well just had to see for my self. Got the 4x16x44 truglo scope and put it on the 30-06. Well it lasted 12 rounds and it stopped holding O and the group got bad. So sent it back to Truglo to have it worked on. When it come back I'll put it on a 22 cal...  Went and got a Nikon 3x9x40 at wal mart. Well we well see what it does.
