I have had mixed feelings about Valentines day in the past. My thoughts are why have a designated day

for what should be done much more often for the one you love. Alot of people use this one day as a symbol to run out to safeway and buy flowers and a box of chocolates. Sometimes I feel alot people waste there life away not knowing or caring for love. I feel life is short but time invested for love in love is some of the best time spent.

it always seems stressful to me to put every lover together, running around near feb 14th to get the right flowers, cards, candy, etc.

but i do it. every year i do it.

i am gonna drop 200+ bucks on dinner alone tonight, and that could be............another nikon scope? maybe some new mounts? or a savage rimfire? hehehe.

just kidding. she's worth it. even though she drives me absolutely BATsh*t, i love her.

so call me a lemming.

J

Valentine's day is not a real big holiday at our house. My wife would rather spend $$$ on craft supplies than receive chocolate, flowers, or other trinkets.

Which is not to say that I don't do anything...

We had a group of kids from the High School Drama Dept. go around town to peoples' homes and/or places of business singing Valentine's Day "carols."  (The fee for this service goes toward buying costume/stage materials and to pay for copyright fees, etc. for the annual school play.)

It was pretty cute.  My wife liked it when they arrived on our doorstep.

Chocolate and cards on the butcher block when I went to work. Lucky them, a blizzard let them sleep in, no school.

Tonight I'm making them pork tenderloin and garlic smashed potatoes. Oh yea, maybe some Belgian Trippel ale for mom and me.

I still haven't decided yet!

My wife likes those scented soap and lotion gift baskets from stores like Bath & Body Works, so that may be the route I go.  Being the typical man who waits until the last minute to buy Christmas gifts for everyone, on Dec 23rd, all from the same store, I'll just go with my usual plan -- find something on my way home from work.

My wife is so lucky to be married to such a hopeless romantic!

RD - been there and still do that, drives my wife crazy.  One of these days I will have to stop being such a procrastinator.

Those are some great ideas... So how did they come out?

Lucznik, that sounded like fun! I bet she was shocked..For good cause too!

Rifle Dude I love bath and body works! Great place for a girl to get away and dream.. lol. I had to go to a bridal shower last weekend, and I went into Victoria Secrets and there were more men then women! I had to go back out and see where I was. I thought it was Home Depot or Bass Pro!! I know some guy that will not step a foot in there..

Well I'm sure all of y'all made some love one happy!  All great stories..

Your evening could have went like this!!!

Woman Allegedly Ties Up Valentine, Drinks His Blood

FORT WORTH, Texas -- An Arizona woman is under arrest, accused of tying up her lover on Valentine's Day in order to drink his blood.

Police in Tempe, Ariz., said 23-year-old Tiffany Sutton allegedly tricked her 43-year-old victim with an offer of kinky sex.

But, after tying him up, police said, she pulled out a knife and cut the man on the leg. She then told him she likes to drink blood and proceeded to drink from his leg, officials said.

Sutton allegedly also made several cuts to the victim's upper body.

The victim managed to break free from his restraints and run from the bedroom. The woman then chased him with a pickax, police said.

Officials said the man passed out a short time later and was found covered in blood by a friend. The unidentified friend also saw Sutton covered in only a blanket with no injuries.

The man was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sutton was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault

I know this is way late but it might be an good idea for next year for someone.

I had someone come and clean the house from top to bottom on V_DAY.

Then i got 2 roses one was white and one was red.

I hand wrote a note with the with rose and talked about the friends ship we have and how it has grown and how it will grow.

I then hand wrote a note with the red one about how the love we shared has grown and will grow .an stuff like that

When doing this i thought back as far as i could about places and thing we have done or said that know one but us knows about and added it to the notes in the right places.

then i went and rented he favorite move and bought a nice meal(i can't cook very well) and layed it all out.

the when she arrived i let her find it all and you know the rest...

we watched the movie   u perv's

Big

I find that I get good results with gift certificates for a massage or a pedicure but I have tried the flowers candy wine candles sex toys lingere etc things also. Best results seem to be the Salon Spa pamper me day of beauty thing but one year I hired a housekeeper to do a years worth of house cleaning - results were positive there too. There is only so much of real life they can handle and still be in the romantic mode--things that stress her or demand her time like - work , kids, bills, and house cleaning all work against romance.
