Ok so it's 2007 already.

The industry has to have some new stuff comming out for SHOT, at least I think it does.

So...the question is, is there a possibility that any maker will field a scope that has some or all of the features in this list:

Larger than 30mm main tube

less than 56mm objective

reasonable length with the adjustment bell spaced so there's room for much fore and aft adjustment on the rifle

mil adjustments

decent mil reticle without alot of glitz and glamour

Top end fully multicoated glass

Variable power without image shift.  Something very low to over 20x on the top end.

and now the big ones

FIRST Focal Plane reticle

Price under $1600.00

What have you heard from the folks who make these things? Anything like that on the horizon that can be commented on?

Great post mike, my opinion is, unless it is IOR quality glass there might be a problem with the price request you have presented.

Snipershide IOR scope will be reasonably close: 3-18x42 with 35mm tube, FFP with some version of MP8 and priced about on par with regular 3-18x42 IORs.

Apparently, IOR is commited to making this scope a reality.   If there is enough demand, I am sure IOR can make it  a standard item.  I'll buy one when it gets here.

I talked with someone "in the know" about this scope this past Saturday morning.  As ILya mentions, IOR is DEFINITELY building this scope.  A tentative release date is 2/07 or early spring '07.  It is going to be VERY nice optically & right now they're trying to work out some details such as reticle, etc.

Best thing to do is follow snipershide.com and see how the project is progressing.  After that, I believe this scope will be included in IOR's product catalog.

It will most likely run $1,200+ but this has not been specifically determined as yet.

I, too, will be buying one when released.  It should be a VERY good scope.

When I read the specs IOR was the first thing that came to mind. They seem to be on top of the game.
