Hey guys,

so I just picked up a SWFA SS HD 1-6x24 scope and as I was looking it over I noticed a small ring sandwiched between the magnification ring the and focus ring.

Is this ring to adjust for parallax or is it for something else entirely? If it is to adjust for parallax did I totally mess things up by screwing it in all the way (as well as screwing the focus ring in all the way?)

Thanks,

Chris

That scope has fixed parralax that cant be adjusted. The eye peice twists to focus the reticle. The ring is a lock ring so when u get the reticle adjusted you can lock it in place

Alright, I figured as much, thanks for the info!

I currently have the focus ring screwed all the way in when I was playing around with it, that wouldn't have hurt it at all would it?

No, it shouldn't have hurt anything.  That said, you may not have it adjusted correctly either.......?

The easy way that I've found to focus and set the ocular is to do it before you mount the scope to a rifle.

Hold the scope up and look through it against a clear blue sky.  If the reticle appears crisp and sharp (in focus) leave the setting there and lock it down.  If it isn't crisp and sharp, adjust one way or the other and try again.  Keep in mind that you don't want to keep looking through the scope as you are adjusting, as your eyes will keep trying to adjust to give you a clear picture.  Lower the scope from your eyes and adjust.  This gives your eyes a break.  What you want to end up with, is seeing a sharp well defined reticle as soon as you look through the scope.  If it's blurry or not sharp, keep trying until you get it right.

This is one of those things where it pays to take the little time needed to get it right.  Once you get it right, you lock down the focus and forget it.

If your eyesight changes over time, or you get new glasses you may need to tweak it at that time, but for the most part, it's set it and forget it.
