First off, welcome to OT Big Smile

JB 59 is Mitsui Kogaku Seisakujo, the maker of the binocular.
JE  61 is Ofuna Kogaku Kogyo , the maker of the housing and metalwork

Companies had to adhere to a pretty strict set of guidelines to qualify for the use of the JB and JE designations.

I have never seen the FM brand, but this is from the days of the Japan Telescope Inspection Institute (JTII) which operated from late 1959 until about 1973 or thereabouts.  There were literally hundreds of Japanese firms involved here and while some were firms we know today, like Nikon and Kowa, others who still make binoculars for other companies like Kamakura, Tamron ,and Light Optical works evolved from that era and from some of those companies.  Most are gone with the winds of history, likely including Mitsui and Ofuna, but they may still be around in some capacity...I don't know Big Smile

JTTI specced lots of binoculars for lots of companies.  Some we still know today like Bushnell.  Others were made for a certain run for certain companies that had decided for whatever reason they wanted to sell a binocular with their name on it.  JTII was the place to get this done.  My guess is that FM is one of those obscure outfits that did this.  There were hundreds of companies like this, and it was a pretty common practice.

Other than hand me down significance, or lack there of, the binocular is likely not worth much more than $35-50.  Go to eb@y and do a search under 7x35 binoculars and you can find a myriad of binoculars from this era for sale.

Most of those JTII porros binoculars were actually pretty good and are quite usable today.  I have some 20 of them from this era and some like the Bushnell Rangemaster will hang with anything.

Some pics may be of some use.
