The back cover of the current Petersens Hunting mag shows a the new 375 Ruger with QD rings on the rifle.

Does anybody know who makes these rings?

Thanks,

Smitty

Can you post the photo?

Without having seen the pic, my guess is they are probably Warne rings.  Warne makes the only direct-mount, QD rings for Ruger rifles I'm aware of.

They looked like warne rings but I didn't see them offered from Warne.  I will search for them again.

Do you know of they offer them in both 1" and 30mm and do you know if they return to zero?

Thanks,

The return to zero is a good question that remains largely unanswered. I would love to see all the guys with QD mounts post a target with scope on 3 shots and scope off and back on and 3 shots.

Most people on this forum will say it returns "pretty well back to zero".

I have the Leupold QR mounts and posted a target on this forum. After doing above it shot about 1inch from previous zero at 100m.

I think you will find the same for most QR mounts.

Hey 8shots!

Did you try to tighten the locks the same way for example-first front then back?

No, unfortunately I have not had the opportunity for extensive testing, for example loosening and tightning in specific order etc. But at face value they do shift from zero when removed and replaced.

See test elsewhere on Rings and bases forum.

I have two sets of Leupold QD rngs and both work well. I do repeat the method of re-attaching "exactly" the same each time though.

I don't have paper targets to show results though.

If there is a difference in zero it's not enough to affect how I use my hunting rifles. I hit the same 6" and 8" plates at 150 yards and 300 yards every time I go to
the range. I should point out that 300 yds is the longest shot I would every attempt and I do practice at this distance.

Every time I reinstall the scopes I check with with my boresighter and it's the same every time. One the range it's not neccessary to check with the bore sighter
but when I arrive at my hunting destination I like to check with the bore sighter to make sure there hasn't been a change in zero as far as the boresighter can tell.
Using the bore sighter is subjective to ome degree but it's better than just "assuming" it's correct.

I have the leupold bore sighter and it's been handy. I can honestly say that everytime I've been to the range someone has been sighting in a rifle and I have
helped each time with getting the scope sighted-in.

So far my QD rings have been working well but I probably couldn't trust any QD mount without veryfying each install with the bore sighter.

Smitty.

They are listed in the chart on this page, and yes, they offer both 1" and 30mm:

http://web.mac.com/warnemounts/iWeb/Warne%20Scope%20Mounts/C hart%20Scope%20Rings.html

They return to zero as well as any other QR mounts, which, as 8 shots mentioned is "o.k.," but I've never seen a AR mount that returned EXACTLY to the same POI after remounting.  I would never remove and remount any QR rings without first rechecking and/or readjusting zero anyway, so a QR mount's ability to precisely return to zero is of little concern to me.
