We'll see who gets the last laugh when gasoline hits the $6/gallon again. And no, no more oil wars allowed!

No i don't. But i do get 44 miles per gallon, and i can fish, hunt, and whatever else for less cash than someone who drives a 12 mpg truck.  By the way, my utility bills combined (electric, heating, and water), were $22 for December.
With the money that i save on gasoline, i can do many things: buy nicer guns, go hunting in Africa or Argentina or fishing in Arkansas or Alaska, buy efficient appliances and windows, which save even more cash, which enables me to send my kid to a better school and college, which means that they will make more money than the kids of a pick-up truck owner.

It is vain to do with more what can be done with less.

My problem with that commercial is that it just shows a murder as being funny. It isn't.

I have also read some articles saying that creating the batteries for Hybrids do more damage to the environment than like 30 years of driving a regular vehicle.  They say around the plant in Ontario that makes the batteries that it is a dead zone.

It's not. Hybrid vehicle batteries are rated at 100,000 miles at least.
We have a Honda Insight in the family. Tough ugly, it gets 48 mpg,  and the battery is still strong after 9 years and 130,000 miles.

True, but it all depends how you manufacture those batteries and how much waste you create and how you dispose of it.
Tesla vehicles are some of the cleanest manufacturers on the planet, and they use nothing but batteries in their vehicles.

I am 800 miles south of you. Shorter but not mild winter, and brutal summers. I have ground source heating and cooling, wood burning stove that heats the radiant floor, triple pane silver glazed windows, 6 inches of spray foam in the walls, higly efficient appliances, net metering electric system with solar panels. The roof has one inch of foam under reflective white aluminum. No clothes drier.

I do lighten up, every time i feel like it. I save money on gas and buy better beer than the cheap pixx that the pick up truck owners usually get.

I just read a bit more and they say it was the nickel batteries that was causing so much damage.  The newer ones are suppose to be much better, so we can probably scratch my last comment.

My g-friends brother is a GM mechanic and he said they have replaced a few batteries for one reason or another and says it is crazy expensive and a pretty big job.  I think they were warranty issues so it did not cost the customer though.

I totally agree with you, fuel efficiency is the way to go.  I have had my truck for nearly 4 years now and barely have 25,000 miles on it.  I try to drive my Honda Civic (about 34 mpg) and my motorcycle (around 45 mpg).  It was funny as soon as gas prices dropped everyone was out driving their expensive gas guzzling vehicles again.  By the time summer hits we will probably have $4 gas again
