Hello all,  I am putting together my first longer range stick that I believe is a pretty common setup and am looking for some input on my thought process.  I have decided (possibly erroneously) that I need a high rings on top of a base that is around 7mm or more in height.  The bolt of my Rem 700 PSS cuts it pretty close to another scope I put on the rifle just to get an idea and the Super Sniper I just acquired is even bigger.  Therefore I these are the setups I have chosen in priority

1) TPS 30mm high steel rings  and TPS 700 S/A picatinny base.  The price on these are great along with the glowing reviews.  The only problem is on their website they are backordered and I can't get a hold of anyone (common problem I guess).

2) Ken Farell High Rings and Picatinny base.  I am slightly concerned because his bases are supposedly really high, but the reviews I read were pretty solid. Also they are steel.

3) Badger High Rings and Picatinny base - Don't think you can go wrong here but definitely pricier.  Are they worth the extra dough?

That is what I am considering right now. Any input is appreciated!

Also I found a good deal on Nightforce Rings from my local sporting goods shop but I haven't read too much about these, any opinions good bad or indifferent?

If you are putting a Super Sniper you certainly don't need high rings.  You want low rings, even with 50mm objectives you can a lot of the time use low rings.
Here is a pick of one of my rifles, it has a TPS 20 MOA base on it and TPS low rings.  Granted this scope has a 35mm tube, but as you can see it is still way to high for me to get a good cheek weld.  So I bought a stock with a cheek piece on it.  High rings will be way to much.

For rings you can get TPS, IOR, Badger, Seekins Precision, Burris Xtreme, Leupold MK4 they are all good heavy duty rings.  Any of them though you are going to want low rings.

Most likely 30mm Super Low Rings or Low (In Stock)

Only base in stock at the moment is a 7075 Remington Base S/A

Good thing I posted and avoided a mistake,  those rings do look high so I guess my math was wrong.  Also thanks for the reply Phil, my SS has a 42mm objective, 30mm tube.  If TPS has some aluminum gear in stock I think I will go ahead and place an order tonight for the super low rings and the base.  Really appreciate the feedback.
