Due to lack of tube length, it appears that the 1.25-4x24 Trijicon, if mounted on my now ordered new 375 Ruger Alaskan, will give me some eye relief issues!!Really%20Sad ...I thought about using some scope ring offsets, but they look like crap!!............Time for plan B! I`ve narrowed down the choices to these three as I don`t wish to spend more on a damn scope than what the rifle itself cost.

First!........1.5-5x20 Leupold VX3 30mm; illuminated duplex! UH OH! Am I going to read the crap on this one!!! Big Squeeze aka Mr. Elite 4200 considering a Leupold??? Optimus Primus! Where are you now?????

Second!.....1-4x24 Burris Euro Diamond`s w/illuminated reticle (different choices of reticles)
or another choice of variable in the Diamond line that still illuminates.

Third!..........To hell with the wider FOV, keep the quick to target aiming BAC concept and put the Trijicon 3x9 on!! The 375 Ruger can go longe range too ya know!!

Fourth!..........Screw the scope! Use open sights!................ NAAAAAA!

OK boys!........................................................... I`m ready!  Crutch

There is a clamp on peep site for the Ruger.  If you had bought the Empire you would not have to worry about spending more for the scope than the rifle.  They come in other than fancy wood and have the optional extend magazine.  Me, I'd find a 2-3/4x Leupold with a number 1 reticle and make due until I sorted it out.

Silver...............Reviewed the Empire web-site! Was not interested in spending 4K and up for a rifle!!!! The cheapest starting point I saw for a 375 H&H was $4785????? Not even interested in spending 3K!!! The 375 Ruger Alaskan will do just fine!.....I should have bought an Empire? I don`t think so!

I had a 3-9x40 accupoint and sent it back, I really like the 2.5-10x56 but that is a lot of scope to put on a dangerous game gun. It all leaves me thinking 2moa dot aimpoint.

Hey Big squeeze, I also am looking for a scope for a new Ruger that I just purchased. I just picked up a M77 mk.11 in 350 Rem mag. Have you considered the Zeiss Conquest fixed 4x32? This is a scope that I am considering for my new rig. Mounting it should not be a problem, length is 12.2 inches.  Good luck, Bricat

There`s a thumper!.....My Alaskan is on its way! Probably will not get a fixed but instead a lower power variable instead!

Hi

I would have choosed a good scope with detachable mounts so I have the possibility of both using scopes, aimpoint and open sigths.
In poor weatherconditions there is NOTHING that beats open sights.

My current solution on the .358 you previously saw pictures on is SuB3-12x42, aimpoint and express sights.
But I have been thinking about maybe get aSwarovski 1.7-10x42 to replace that SuB with, or maybe a Zeiss 1,5-6.

I wouldent chose any of the scopes you listed, the leupold have variable eyerelief and poor FOV and the Burris feels like wathcing throgh an aquarium ........

In you case with maybe limited budget i would go for second hand 1,5-6 (GERMAN or austrian),  new aimpoint and open sights.

Regards Technika

That sucks.

For some reason I thought you were originally going to get the 3x9 Trijicon Accupoint (amber)?

You may very well like the 3-9 accupoint however the 2.5-10x56 is so vastly superior that I decided that I would rather go that route after a close look at both.

urimaginary.......

does the 56mm trijicon's reticle HINDER you in the lowest of lowlight?

i know it's great and all for the target acquisition, but would HATE to not be able
to take a target because the reticle was too bright in the lowlight.

thanks

Mike650.............The 3x9 Trijicon Accupoint is going on my 300 WSM Ruger Frontier compact! Upgrading from the Elite. I WAS hoping to mount a 1.5-4x24 Trijicon on my soon to arrive 375 Ruger Alaskan!....Problem is its tube length between the bells! Too short! I will problems with the eye relief! For a lower powered variable, it looks like I`ll get a 30mm straight tubed scope for the Alaskan.

U Friend.......................Was the larger Trijicon superior in the optics, brighter, more resolute vs. the 3x9?? Superior in what ways?...............The 2.5-10x56 Trijicon is a big scope! Too large and heavy for either my Frontier compact or the Ruger Alaskan!

I have been playing with a bunch of 1-4x or similar scopes for an upcoming review.  Any of them would work fine for your application.  In order of descending price:

Kahles 1.1-4x24 CSX with Circle Dot reticle with illumination
Kahles 1.1-4x24 C with #4 reticle (FFP)
Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4x24 with #4 reticle and illuminated dot
Millett DMS-1 1-4x24 with Donut Dot reticle.

I'm following you...I had sort of the same problem with a scope and standard Leupold mounts  where I had to install a reversible front mount to get the proper eye relief.

I just looked up the 375 Ruger Alaskan on-line. Lots of praise for the .375 Ruger cartridge!!

The 300 WSM Ruger Frontier compact and now the 375 Ruger Alaskan, you really like those short barreled canons, don't you!! Big%20Smile

Mike650...............YES! You could say thet I prefer lighter, quicker, shorter barreled compacts!............Tha 375 Ruger Alaskan matches the 375 H&H ballistics and does so from only a 20" barrel.... Just like my little Frontier, with my reloads, well exceeds the 30-06`s ballistics from only a 16.5" barrel........Mount a quick to target with both eyes open scope like the 3x9 Trijicon onto the Frontier and what do ya got??? One quick and handy SOB if needed and a great long range rifle too!!!........When I go boar and pig hunting, I won`t need to deal with losing cross hairs on dark hides. The Trijicon not only will solve that problem, but it will also allow me quicker target acquisition with both eyes open. Those two great assets. the 4200 cannot give me! That`s why I`m switching or doing!the upgrade.

Squeezer, I think you might be pleased with the 3-9 Trijicon, The plusses seem to be what you want, at lower power the quickness should only be a tad slower than your original set-up intentions.
Although Ilya's recommendations are worth some consideration, if quickness is your chief concern.

U Friend...................Called Trijicon this morning. I asked them if there was any difference "optically" in the glass between the 3x9 & the 2.5x10 as far as quality was concerned. A tech there said that there was no difference in the quality between the two.......If that`s the case, the only difference that would come to my mind, is a difference in light transmission. The 2.5x10 is brighter because its obj. bell is quite larger at 56mm. Was that your assessment between the two???

Hey there CY!!........................Too bad that the 1.25x4 Trijeey doesn`t have enough tube length for my Alaskan. When I called Trijicon this morning, I bitched at them for not making straight 30mm tubes without the obj. bell; but I did so in a nice way of course!!!.....^%#%%^%%&^%**&***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cencored    I just may switch the 3x9 Trijeey back & forth from the Frontier to the Alaskan & back again. A reduced FOV when on the Alaskan, but oh well............That is a PIA though!
