Hi everyone, I'm new in the forum.

I want to know your opinion on Docter scopes.

żAre they german made or assembled in Hong Kong?

You can get a brand new variable (1.5-6x42) for less than u$s 500 an that seems a terrible deal - if the product is good-.

ĦSo the lawyers are censoring!

There must be some ugly skeleton in the closet...better don't open the door (or the scope box, in this case)

The 30mm scopes seem to be really nice.  The 1" models appear to be pretty good, but not to the same level of the 30mms.

They shure "seem" nice, but what about some practical experience?

Does any one know if they are german made? No lawyer can get upset about revealing that.

How would they stack against say Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 or Bushnell 4200...

They are indeed german made and they are pretty nice scopes.  However, there were a number of various customer support issues with these scopes over the years due to different importers and other complications.  I would look at other scopes in similar price range.  There are a lot of good options around.

What are you looking for in a scope?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm looking for a)reliability ('cause we don't have customer service around here), b) clarity (we do a lot of night shooting for boar) c)as free from parallax as possible. The choice would be between a Bush. Elite 4200 1.5-5x36 for  $ 229.95 vs. Docter scp 1.5-6X42 30mm. DX for $ 499.99

I'm aware that they differ in the objective size, but one is 1/2 the price of the other. Is in this case the difference worth?

I do not particularly trust docter scopes, so I would consider Elite 4200.  YMMV.

if you like the 1.5-6x42 - try the nikon monarch gold, kahles, or sightron sIII

the 4200 config would be just fine as well.

they will all be fantastic in that configuration.

good luck.

How would you stack the Burris Euro Diamond 30 mm.1.5-6x42 illum ret. against those cited in the last post?

(excepting the Kahles which is in other price range)
