I just purchased a slightly used Savage 10fp McMillan in .308 and need some help finding a scope for it. I plan on using this setup for shooting 100 to 1000yds.

I am looking for something that fits the following description.

$500-$600 budget
3.5-10 or 4.5-14 or comparable
Side Focus
Easily adjustable & repeatable turrets 1/4 moa adjustments
mil dot or other ranging reticle

Is there anything out there that meets my criteria? Thanks for any suggestions.

try a nikon monarch gold - OR the bushnell elite 4200 target.

the would both be good for the money.

it may be slightly out of your budget, but this scope is absolutely wonderful.

either model would be great - i have the 50mm w/ illum. reticle and it is nicer than i could have imagined.

I haven't used this scope, but it has received fairly good reviews from those that have.

Don't let the price fool you!! This little Nikon is a good scope and offers a big BANG for the buck.

A little more power than you suggested.

A tad over your budget.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have found a slightly used Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x40mm LR/T. The price was right and I couldn't pass it up.

Thanks,

A used one is the only way to find one at that price. If you didn't have to have a variable I would have said buy a 10x Super Sniper for $299

I have owned a SS 10x42M in the past and would have looked into purchasing another one but I wanted a variable. This gun is also used for hunting. It's not easy to shoot a wild hog at under 20yds with a 10x scope.

The rifle I bought came with a EGW 25 MOA base. I am looking at the Burris Xtreme Tactical rings to mount the scope. What height rings should I use?

Low- .25"
Medium- .50"
High- .75"
x High- 1"
