I got to go on the afternoon shake down cruise for Indiana DNR's re-opening of the Atterbury Fish and Wildlife range.  It is a world class range, with four combination Skeet and trap houses, and over sixty pistol and rifle position ranging from seven to one hundred yards.

As many of you know whenever we buy a firearm, ammunition, bow and many other items there is an eleven percent  tax that is charged between the maker and the wholeseller.  That money goes back to the states based on where things were sold.

Govenor Mitch Daniels has that money going back into the shooting ranges, rather than the three card Monte John game that happen under previous mamagement.  This is on top of lifetime CCW license Hoosiers just got. Govenor Daniels is taking care of hunters and shooters.

There have been contruction and weather delays, but thing are working well so far.  Several cordite loving gun nuts pounded on things today and things seem to go smoothly.  The pro shops, there are two, one by the trap houses and one by the rifle pistol range, are awaiting final touches before being stocked.  The range will be operated by contracted personel.

The new range is located at 7920 South Rowe St. Edinburgh, Indiana in Johnson county south of Indianapolis. Grand opening will be May 30th.

The range will be named after Indiana Guardsman Sgt. Joseph E. Proctor.  Sgt. Proctor faced down an explosive ladden truck with his M-16 saving many people on his base in Iraq. He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously for his friendship and valor.

The location is near the Striped water tower and the main gate at Camp Atterbury. Cost will be a dollar an hour for the rifle and pistol.  Skeet and trap will be higher.  I did not get the bird cost.

BTW Those of you who read Fred's artilces in Shotgun news will be pleased to know that the Appleseed shoots seem to be working as the wife of a certain Second Amendment Patriot beat her husband

I know, I know...  I had the D-cam and the big Pano 6x17 camera from work.  It was dusty and hazy and the lighting was harsh.  The employees wanted to go home before the lighting got good...

Don't worry I still have fourty buck worth of this thing called film to feed the Pano camera with...I'll get some pictures after it rains and the place greens up more.

When you take pictures for money, you hate to take one you know you will not like.  You take enough of them thinking you will like them, and the loath them.
