Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Handi 223 Remington Ultra, and I need a scope in the range of $250.00. Help please. I'm considering a Swift Premier 4.5-14x44mmAO...mil dot. What ya think? I'd like to be able to shoot 300 yards or under.

Thx in advance,
Bubba
PS: I'll be using Leupold rings for about $44.00.

Welcome to the OT!!

Swift has had it's share of positive commentary around here lately. I've only looked through some older models so take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

A friend of mine LOVES the older Swift units........

You could try the search function to see exactly what they are saying, if you wish.

Or...you could pop for a Nikon Buckmaster.

Heck of a good scope, Mil Dot, side focus and "close" to your budget.

OR...........Get a Monarch!!

Mil Dot unit and better optical quality. Less power and no SF, but you have an adjustable objective that some people prefer, like me. As compared to the Buckmaster.

Plenty of power out to and beyond 300 yards, my friend.

$289.00 for the Monarch scope is FLAT STEALING!!!!!!..........

Good advice CT the Monarch is a steal at that price with great glass.

Well guys,

I've mounted the scope and it's doing a wonderful job. The optics and clarity are exceeding my expectations. This Swift scope has the best glass that I've seen for the price, and It's much better than my VI 2x7 Leupold on my 30-30. It's so clear and gathers so much light that I can shoot in near dark situations at 100 yards. I'Ve had to use a flashlight to check my targets. It's holding zero without a problem. I have no idea if a kicker would be a problem, since I don't want a scope on my 45-70. When deer season rolls around in the Fall, I'll try shooting 200 and 300 yards. The H&R Handi in 223 Remington with a bull barrel has won a warm spot in my heart, too. It's a D*mn tack driver. Thanks again for the wonderful advice.

Good to know!!

Did you get the Premier you mentioned in your post??

Yes, I bought a premier, but I got the 4x12x40mmAO. I wish I'd have gotten the mil-dot, but I'm going to put this scope on my 30-30, and then I'll buy the Swift 4.5x15x44AO mil-dot for my Handi. I cannot believe how much light this scope gathers, and I can read the writing on a street sign at 100 yards as clear as the morning paper, which I cannot do with my leupold. I paid $50.00 more for the Leupold, too. That sucks big time!  I'll put it on my Ape gun (aka Hi-Point 9mm carbine).  LOL.

If you could find some time, please get us a review of your new scope and possily some pics on your rifle.

Evidently, your very pleased with it and your comments may help out the other members here.

I'd be very interested too.

Glad you like it so well!

Good shooting.

another nice thing about the swift is that if it dies you take it back to where you bought and they give you a new one across the counter no mailing it to the factory etc.
