For those who have compared Nightforce, Swarovski, and Zeiss in 56mm models, which would be the absolute best in low light situations............or is there any appreciable difference?

If it ain't accurate at long distance, the fact that it is flat shooting is irrelevant.

I've used Swarovski and Schmidt & Bender.I would give a slight edge to Schmidt & Bender.Any of the big three are excellent.

If you can live with the additional bulk of a 72mm scope - go with it!

Assuming a high quality scope, a 72mm objective will only start to show an advantage at magnifications above 10X, because the human eye cannot use an exit pupil (objective dia in mm divided by power) larger than 7mm.  With that in mind, even the 56mm objective will only start to provide a twilight performance edge over smaller objective diameters when you go above 8X.  In my experience, even with top drawer optics, it becomes too difficult to discern the target at distances justifying even 8X in low ligh situations.  Most of my shots at game in dim light have been at distances where 4X was more than enough, usually less than 75 yards.

CWPINST, the Swaro and Zeiss would probably be a little better in low light than the NF, depending on the particular model of each scope.  Most reports I've read from people who have made the comparison between Swaro and Zeiss have said the Zeiss edges the Swaro slightly in twilight performance, but I personally haven't been able to tell any noticeable difference when I've compared similar scopes from both brands in low light.

My Nightforce is plenty bright for anything I can do safely.

Talking differences at this level is purely preference.  Some prefer Zeiss (I own a few), some Swaro, I prefer Nightforce.  I wish the damned ocular didn't rotate when I cahnge power, but it's a small gripe compared top the positives.

In the end, it's like everything else: best is a subjective measure - like comparing Pamela Anderson to Kate Beckinsale.

I'll take Kate Beckinsale over Pamela!  I at least don't know where she's been.

I would say zeiss, but the reticle choise is also important.
Cause when it's really dark the fully illuminated reticles are not the best.
When it's really dark the smaller the illumninated spot is the better it is.

As the owner of a Schmidt-Bender, Swarovski, and Ziess..... Schmidt-Bender is the best.  Yes, I know a lot of people are "oh my god, it's so $$$," well noone ever said the best was cheap; but come on a good ziess or swarovski, you're gonna spend $1300 - $1500 anyway, might as well dish out the other $500 and step it up a notch.  Seriously though, I've put all my scopes up at low light conditions, and the S&B and Swarovski are close, but the S&B has a much heavier reticle... gotta know where you're shooting.
