Hey guys,

Anyone have experience with the Nightforce NXS scopes?  How does the quality compare with the IOR's and other decent quality scopes as far as clarity and such?

Why doesn't SWFA carry them?

Canine,

I have the NF NXS 3.5-15X50 and discussed its pros and cons in a recent post in the Tactical section where I reviewed the IOR 4-14X50, comparing it against the NF.  It is an excellent scope.  If you're considering it as a possible replacement to your IOR for the hunting / target application you described in another post, keep in mind, the reticles in the NF are just as thin as the SFP MP8 in the IOR, and the illumination system is not as good as the IOR, IMO, except in one respect -- you can set the illumination to a dimmer setting than the IOR.

Otherwise, it is an excellent, well-built scope, with rock solid adjustments and good optics.  But if you don't like the thin reticle in the IOR, you won't like the NF thin reticles any better.

Thanks rifle dude.  I saw you review after my post.  I just want to much and need to settle on what I have.  I wonder if IOR would put an illuminated 4Adot SFP in this scope. That may solve my problems as long as the dot is the same size as the MP-8 reticle.

I would contact them and see if there's a way to make the #1 illumination setting dimmer.  I think that by itself would solve your major issue with the scope, plus maintain the fine precision shooting capabilities the MP8 reticle offers to begin with.

You may want to look at the FC-2 reticle in the nightforce

Great scope.  Haven't owned and IOR (yet) but the optics are great, mechanics are great, construction is rock solid, illumination issue is only an issue once, and I wouldn't trade it for anything under $1,500 - that I have shot.

that said, IOR gets allot o' praise around here for making a good scope.  My next purchase will be an IOR and I'll do the side-by-side.

Either are good bets, but SWFA not selling Nightforce would be a problem for me.  Their service is second to none, good luck finding someone who sells NF that has a customer base making that claim.
