  Hi everyone,

I just bought a Remington 700 in .223 and wanted your opinions on a scope.  I am kind of thinking a Burris Black Diamond with there ballistic plex and side focus would be nice.  Does anyone have an opinion on them?  Would another scope be better for the money?  I would like to stay around 700.00.  Thanks, S

What kind of shooting will you be doing?

SWFA Has some great sale items on Nikon Monarch scopes  you can get the BDC or mil-dot

For around 700 you can get some great scopes.

Mostly target and rock chucks.

A Nikon at present prices gets you excellent optics and you can buy a lot of goodies for that Remy with the change from that $700.

Black Diamond has a very good reputation around here, try this  http://opticstalk.com/search_form.asp?fid=0 - http://opticstalk.com/search_form.asp?fid=0

I did a search and it seems that most of you think that the Zeiss Conquest is a better scope than the Black Diamond.  Is that still the overall opinion of the two?  Thanks, S

You may want to search Burris and see some of the comments about custome service at Burris recently, They has sure some bad pr lately.

Shootergirl,

For about $80 more than your stated budget, you might also look at the Meopta Meostar 4-16X44 with mil-dot.  It doesn't have the SF, but it does have A/O.  I have only seen this scope inside a building, but everyone I've heard from who owns a Meopta scope has given rave reviews.

I bought a Black Diamond last spring, but the side focus was way off. Would not focus under 150 yarda and at 2 miles was only half up the focus dial.Swfa was great to work out this problem. (Thanks Yall) I also have a Zeiss. Its great but I prefer the Burris Bplx  over everyone elses reticles. I have a FF II  4.5-14 on my 700 vfl and it puts 3 of 5 golf balls off the tee at 300 yds. A step up in optics is the Sig Select. I can't see much differance than the Black Diamond opticaly yet still getting the Bplex. If you like twisting the turrents go with the Zeiss for a little more.

I have a Ruger 77V in .243 that I use for rockchucks or longer range yotes. It's scoped with a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 side focus. Can't say enough good about this scope and I still believe the Zeiss optics are tough to beat without spending $$hundreds$$ more.Post some pics of that rifle!

Black Diamond scopes are nice and so are the Burris XTR scopes. I would also like you to consider the Meopta Meostar 4-16x44, it is a awesome scope at great price.
