Can't decide which way to go?

or

Which is of better quality, and/or better optics?  Like the price on the Nikon but only $100 more for the VX.

i cant give a fair opinion i havent looked through a leupold since the quit making the varixII's i like my nikons and i know both companies make a good scope, look through both and your eyes will tell you which is right.

The optical qualities are better on the Monarch, VX-II has the glass quality of much lower priced scopes. The current sale on Monarch scopes is just a added bonus when comparing these two scopes.

I just got a 2-7x32 Monarch from SWFA yesterday. It is very nice, crisp picture, edge to edge. Have not compared it to my Leupold, Burris, B&L or Kahles scopes yet. But my first thought after looking through it was WOW.......$200!

The current buckmasters that I have seen fall right in the middle in optical quality between the 3200 and Fullfield II. When it comes to scopes in this price range there is more variation from scope so some will appear clearer than others even within the same line.

then two years later i said the same about the fullfieldII now i just bought a monarch

Really, don't know enough about the Nikons. Cheap is the man there so I decided to take the plunge. I might take the IOR plunge. Koshkin says good things about them and his word is good, too. I am sure SVD's word is good, but an S&B will get me in court right now. Then I'll be buying Leapers.

The IOR is a great move, the optical qualities lie between Kahles AH and Kahles CL t, this is very good company to be in the middle of. The best IOR I have seen have been the 35MM scopes. My S&B addiction is not a good thing consider it a virus.

Area51, looks like the Monarch is the way to go here. I think the resolution is better than my two Vari-III's. The prices right now are unbeatable and the warranty is a lifetime one. I might be ordering another one.

I know, I already have three hunting scopes and I can not get a PMII out of my mind. It is a ddiction as Tahqua has stated. The glass and construction is awsome though, they are a truly a incredible package.

only way i will ever have an S&B scope is because it comes with the $6000 lazzeroni  rifle i just bought like that would ever happen to me.

Uh oh. Once the OT gun forum gets going we will have to coax you into dropping some coin on some hardware to justify more glass. Stay away from SVD, he spends a lot on wood, too.

Well now, I've archived this thread for future reference, just in case. Good luck with that tree, hope it has some nice figure in it.

SVD, here is a reason I would by a VX-II, spending too much here

http://www.dragonmead.com/ - http://www.dragonmead.com/

-not, I would still go for quality in a mid range scope.

Burris SS

Sightron II

Nikon Monarch

Bushnell 4200

and yes VX-III

LOL!!!!

My opinion of IOR is very positive.  I own one of the 35mm scopes and I couldn't be happier.  I used to have one of the 30mm models and was very pleased with it, too.  The glass is excellent and the MP8 reticle is the bomb!

I, too, am lusting after a S&B!  Will definitely land me in the poor house.  I want the PH 4x16 50mm like nobody's business.

What would be the best reticle in the Monarch?
