Need a little advice on a scope for my new Rifle's Inc Strata, That I just placed a order for. It will be a 300win., weighing in at 5lbs. Looking for a good all round scope in the 3-9/10 x 40 range. Want a good peice of glasss in the $500-1000 range. It needs to fairly light. Will be using the rifle for midwest deer, also Elk & sheep up 300 yards. I went to Cabelas & looked at Swark A line 3-10 X 42 & liked it, also looked at Kahles CL did not seem as bright, but tough to tell inside a store. Any help would be great.

This is my first post but have been reading previous post for advice. Thanks again,

Roggs

does this gun have a muzzle break?? if not, from experience your gonna want a scope with lots of eye relief or else get ready for a black eye and stitches!! aby magnum like the 300 that weighs 5 pounds wont be pleasant to shoot off a bench so keep eye relief in mind when checking into scopes

I think that Chris (forum and SWFA owner) has some of those lightweight babies. You could shoot him a PM or perhaps someone else here has some experience with those lightweight/heavy kickers. Lots of folks here seem to be real impressed with the Kahles CL. They are coming out with a KX series for 2007, so that's another option. The Swaro AV you have already seen. I'm not sure what the spec's will be on the new Zeiss Classic series that are coming out for 2007 if you are considering a 30mm tubed scope. I know you said lightweight, but Zeiss stated that the new scopes will utilize their "Lightweight technology" what ever that means to them. Call it a good hunch, but I'm guessing eye relief is going to be a big consideration. Welcome here, sir.

Yes, rifle has a break & should reduce recoil by 50%. I shot one of my hunting buddies & it did not kick anymore than a 270.

How much eye relief would you reccomend, over 4in?
