He did hit the deer. How absurd to suggest that the pressure of a passing bullet could "suck the eyes out of the deer". The shot clearly went thru the eyes. They were lined up perfectly and that allowed enough trauma to the brain to kill the deer. If he had bothered to dissect the skull he would have seen evidence of the hit.
Dan you have a 50BMG. Set a empty shot shell or medicine bottle in front of a target dot and shoot a half to one inch of it and see that it won't move. And if by chance it does move it won't be much more than falling over. Air displacement from a bullet in flight is minimal at best.

I thought there was enough said... that is an experiment I don't need to perform... I don't leave a dollar under my pillow for the tooth fairy...

I have some 750 grain CNC-turned projectiles for 50BMG... a while back, I shot an opossum with one... it passed right through, took a lot of "inside material", with very little entry/exit damage.  It was kind of like sticking a red-hot rod through a stick of butter.

Wasted a danged expensive projectile on a 'possum... don't need to perform another experiment like that.

Unbelievable...

Now the .50 BMG is a wonderfully powerful round, but the claims he made are beyond the pale.

I am a firm believer in "more power", I've accidentally blown a window out of my house with muzzle blast from .50BMG, I've tried (unsuccessfully) to "bark" a squirrel with .458 Lott, .375 H&H, .300 H&H, .300WM (shot the leg off one with the Lott... had to shoot him on the run)... but the claim of killing and sucking the eyeballs out of a deer by the "sheer power" of bullet passage is just too much for me to comprehend. The possum I shot with the 750 grain CNC-turned brass projectile was at about 28 yards.  If there had not been so much internal damage, I might have suspected he died of muzzle blast... very little damage to the external body... can't say I wasn't amazed, but it is consistent with my deer hunting with the .458 Lott.

I once addled a ruffed grouse with my 44mag at the end of a deer drive. I was at pretty close range and aiming for his head but missed. Between the muzzle blast and that 300gn wizzing past his head he was completely flummoxed and laid on the ground flapping around. Made a nice hors d’oeuvres and no wasted meat.

We do that kinda stuff all the time in South Africa.

The real neat trick is to put salt licks down, then you wait till the buck starts licking the salt.  At that precise moment you whizz one round just above the salt lick and close to the bucks open mouth.
The results are nothing but spectacular. You whip that animal right out of its skin through the mouth, the salt lick explodes and presto.....you have a buck skinned and salted, ready to hang for dried meat!!!

The music (?) in that video alone would have killed him Dan!

Hmm, if he didn't hit him, I don't think all that hair would have blown off the deer as the bullet passed by.  Quite a clam that air pressure killed a deer.

Agree about the music.

You know, I get it. I get the whole fun in loading some hot whizbang load, and taking it out, and shooting stuff with it to see what happens.

But this just pushes my stupid meter off the chart. Not to mention the fact that in the second video, that deer didn't just DRT.

I've discovered that ordinary "deer rifle" class chamberings costing $1/round kill deer just as dead, just as quickly as cartridges costing 5X more, and you don't need to lug around a 30 lb parcel to do it. I also much prefer to just shoot deer in the vitals.

I've watched the original video a couple of times and think that dude is full of sheet. I saw a hit in his video. He shot the doe in the eye and the bullet just zipped right through. Weapons grade stupidity there. He should be embarrassed for releasing that video and making such a ludicrous claim.
