Hello all: I'm new here but have been through the mill as far as shooting in general goes & have only ever been interested in extremely accurate rifles and handguns.I've always been intrigued by switch barrel rifles & bought a 455 in .22 LR when they first came out.It shot well enough but I thought it could be better. I put a target crown in it & lengthened the chamber/throat .100in to shoot Stingers. One down,3 to go. Next was the standard chamber LR barrel. It was a ringer right out of the box. I figured the 17 HMR would be easy & it was. Took about a box of shoot & clean regimen & it was amazing. 3 down....on to the WMR. I figured this would be the toughest one & turns out I was right. I originally bought 2 of these...the first was pretty good, much better than the second one. I was ready to order a third but decided to try to make the "bad" one shoot..mainly because it was bad enough that I didn't want to be associated with selling it. After a lot of bore scoping I decided to shorten it.500 in. & re crown. Half a box of shoot & clean later it started to come around & by the end of the box it was the most accurate WMR I've ever had...& I've had some good ones. Testing was done with a trusted 36# Leopold bench rest.          Sorry for the ramblings but I wanted to set the stage for the question: What moderate sized & weight scope do I put on it for squirrel and " egg shoots"? (Chicken eggs laying on their sides at 200 Yards, rimfire only & 7.5 lbs total weight. LOTS o fun especially if the wind is blowin!!                                 About 7 years ago Zeiss started making their conquest in 4.5-14 x 44. Side focus down to 30 yds, glass & quality that made Leopold look silly for half the price...They could be had for about $425 & I bought 2 of em....should've got 10. Best bang for the buck I've ever found & naturally they don't make em anymore.

It sounds like you have some really nice rimfire set ups going.  Are you looking for glass for the 455?
egg size targets at 200 yds takes a different type of scope than stalk and shoot squirrel hunting so I'm really thinking you would enjoy

I had a few of the zeiss 4.5-14s, am disappointed they discontinued it.

The vortex would be a good fit. Swarovski had a scope several years ago with a turret that allowed for multiple zeros. I've always been enteigued by the switch-barrel guns, but figured keeping track of all the zeros and details would make it more work than it was worth.

I would think you want something with lots of elevation travel, exposed turrets, no zero stop, and a stock for a very complicated range card.

Good luck. Vortex makes great stuff.

The Conquest 4.5-14x has been reborn as Meopta MeoPro 4.5-14x. it is not as affordable as it was back then, but still a very nice scope

I'd be looking at Vortex Razor HD LH as well. If you need a turren, try Kenton.

Thanks guys for your thoughtful help on this. It does seem I read somewhere recently about a guy that bought a couple Meoptas & absolutely hated them but I guess that can happen with anything. If they are the conquest reborn & as good I'll probably have to try one! Thanks again.
