I am looking for a comparison of the two Zeiss models above (DL without illumination).  I am looking for a breakdown between the two (differences and similarities).  I realize the DL is 30mm with a 3-12 magnification while the HD5 is one inch with a 3-15 magnification.  Does the DL have better glass?  Is the DL more rugged or precisely built?  Why would you go with the DL over the HD5 if you do not need the increased elevation of the 30mm tube and the HD5 offers a wider magnification range?

I don't think the glass in the HD5 line is that flash. Not for my eyes anyway. Something to look into. Check the exit pupil diameters and eye relief.. I've been looking at scopes in the 5-25 magnification range and the HD5 has a smaller exit pupil than other euro scopes with a 30mm tube

if 2 scopes have the same mag range and the same  objective size  then there will be no difference in exit pupil size tube size makes no difference
