In your opinion, which one of these two scopes is the best optically? After that, which one is the best scope period and why?

Well,I'm going to take a wild guess and conclude that no one on this board has owned both of these scopes so a direct comparison is not known. With the wealth of knowledge on this board I figured someone would have compared the two scopes at some point. Oh well, I've decided I'm going to sell my Leupold VX7 2.5-10x45 scope any way. Thanks.

I have seen both and both are good scopes.

Kahles is a little better overall, in my opinion.  However, since both have been out of production for a bit, predicting how the used ones compare can be difficult.

Back when i first saw the VX-7, I vaguely recall looking at it side-by-side with Swaro AV (predecessor to Z3) and Kahles CL and I liked Kahles CL the most out of those three.  It has been some years, though.

For the record, I like the spiritual successor to the Kahles CL, the KXi, enough to put on my hunting rifle.
