I've had a Leupold VX6 2-12x42 Firedot for a while but just bought a Sightron SIII 3.5-10x44 LRMD/CM and Leupold VX7 2.5-10x45. I set each of them on 5 (because that's the highest setting I use when I hunt) and did a quick comparison. My initial thoughts after comparing them is that the VX7 has better contrast and color resolution than the other two. After that, the VX6 has slightly better contrast and color resolution than the SIII. Anybody else had a chance to compare these scopes? I know the objective variances may have played a small part in the contrast differences.

According to my eyes:
After extensive testing I have confirmed for me what I have always wanted to know since I bought my Leupold VX6. Optically in every way, the VX7 is slightly better than the VX6. So slight that it would be difficult to distinguish with just a quick look through unless you already had your mind made up.

Regarding the Sightron SIII, it is slightly behind the VX6. Now that I have determined which is better suited for me optically and practical use, I'm going to sell the SIII.

Thanks for sharing. I'd love to get my hands on a VX-6 and 7. I'm a big fan of the Firedots.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
