I plan to buy a Savage 93R17 and have a small budget for a scope. At Academy I saw a TASCO 6-24 42  Varmint Target at about $90. The reviews I've seen are either 5 stars or 2 stars. What else is out there for the money?

I would also look at either the Hawke or Vortex scopes. Also you could check the sample list.

Thanks for the replies... Please pardon my ignorance. What/where is the sample list?

in that price range I was pleasantly surprised at the BSA Sweet series of scopes.  So much so i bought one for .223 and one on a 22LR.  scopes turrents are calibrated to match common 22LR balistics of 2-3 different weight bullets....
