I've been using a Slik 80 on my Browning spotting scope and it's just not steady enough.  I need something heavier.  The Slik has long been my camera tripod, but it doesn't seem to handle the four pound weight of the Browning very well.

Who's got a good recommendation on a tripod that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Thanks!

Bogen/Manfrotto 3011BN Standard Tripod Legs = $110.

Bogen/Manfrotto 3130 Head Micro Fluid = $79.

Some stores (competitor) sell these two together as a kit costing less than the two separately.

Check legs for height. You might like something smaller or bigger of more expensive. The 3130 head is perfect. The 3011 legs are nice and stable.

Half a mile above Slik.
